Year 3 - Leeds
Hello and welcome to Leeds' class page. We have Mr Bishop (Class Teacher), Mrs Roberts and Mrs Cassidy (Teaching Assistants) in our classroom who are all really friendly.
Please check our class page regularly to see photos of our learning, We would love for you to share these experiences with your family and we look forward to working with you and your child over the course of the next academic year.
During the summer term, Year 3 will be learning about forces with a particular focus on magnetism. This follows a successful Spring term looking at what plants need to grow successfully.
In maths, we will be learning how to add or subtract up to three digit numbers in different contexts such as measuring capacity or the perimeter of 2D shapes. Prior to half term, we will be revisiting fractions by adding or subtracting fractions with the same denominator as well as solving practical problems by finding fractions of quantities.
In English, we will be reading 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' and using the text as a basis for writing a discussion before creating a new sweet description for Mr Willy Wonka. Finally, we will be creating a new inventing room and describing everything you would expect to find in Mr Wonka's factory. The term will finish with a study of 'place' and 'contrast' poetry.
In ICT, we will be creating branching databases on zoo animals and the planets in our solar system.
Finally, now the weather is beginning to improve, Mr Bishop will be leading forest school sessions for both classes incorporating creative activities where we will learn about the natural world, which surrounds our school buildings
