Year 5 - Edinburgh
Hello and welcome to Edinburgh's class page.
In our class we have Mr Smith (Class Teacher) and Miss Jones (Teaching Assistant), who are both friendly and approachable.
We work really hard in our class to ensure all children are supported to reach their potential.
Please check our class page regularly for updates about our learning.
We look forward to working with you and your child over the next academic year
World book day
This half term our topic focus is all about Forces and trying to recognise that some mechanisms, including levers, pulleys and gears, allow a smaller force to have a greater effect. In English, we will be focusing on a poem called ‘The Highwayman’. From this text we will be producing an alternative version of the poem based around one of the other characters in the narrative. After this, we will be looking at producing various pieces of writing based around an 'Apprentice' style project looking at creating a fictional theme park. In Maths we will be focusing on place value, addition/subtraction and multiplication/division and applying these to real life contexts and problems. This half-term our PE will include; Cricket with a focus on sending, receiving and striking of a ball. During our other lesson we will be looking at athletics and preparing ourselves for 'sports week' next half term. We are also really excited about our other foundation subjects being taught, such as: French, Music, Computing, R.E, Art & D.T and PSHE. For more information and to see what we will be doing weekly, please refer to the half-termly planner below.
